Cloth Disk Filtration Capital Improvement Project

WalCoMet is in the process of a $20.5 million capital improvement project. The improvements include upgrading the tertiary treatment from sand filtration to cloth disk filtration, upgraded chemical storage, motor control center replacement, and an expansion of the administration and control portion of the water reclamation facility (WRF). The project is required to comply with ultra-low phosphorus limits in the upcoming WPDES permit in July 2024. The upgrades will allow the WRF to keep phosphorus concentrations below the 0.075 mg/L requirements in the new permit and will provide enough filter capacity to adequately treat peak flows up to 30 million gallons per day.

Borg Road Gravity Sewer Main Lining Project

WalCoMet has hired VisuSewer to install a cured-in-place pipe liner (CIPP) in the 42-inch gravity sewer main along Borg Road. The project will line approximately 1,250 linear feet of sewer main in a section between Blue Heron Dr and Interstate 43. The project does not have an official starting date, but work is expected to begin in November 2023 and be completed by the end of the winter season. Most of the work will take place in the ditch line and will have minimal impact on traffic. The work will not result in any interruption of sanitary sewer services.

Lift Station Electrical Updates

WalCoMet is in the design stage of an electrical equipment replacement project. The work will consist of replacing the motor control centers, automatic transfer switches, and standby generators at the Williams Bay #1 and #2 lift stations. Once the design is completed the project will be publicly bid and a schedule of work will be created. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
