The Walworth County Metropolitan Sewerage District (WalCoMet) service area is within the corporate boundaries of 11 entities, comprises approximately 16 square miles, and has a current population of over 28,000 residents. Sewer services charges to each entity are based on wastewater parameters established by the Commission. The sewer service charge rates consist of the costs of administration, operation, maintenance, and debt service of all waste treatment services provided by the District and by the Municipality that serves the individual user.

Each entity’s bill is comprised of five separate billing parameters: Flow, Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Ammonia (NH3-N), and Customer Units (CU). At the time of the District’s formation, and then updated in 2010, WalCoMet evaluated the cost to operate the water reclamation facility and assigned a portion of the cost to each billing parameter appropriately. Each entity is charged proportionately compared to the cost to treat the parameters it discharges to WalCoMet’s System.
