Education and Outreach

The Walworth County Metropolitan Sewerage District (WalCoMet) offers outreach resources to educate the public on our facility and the water reclamation process. In addition to providing tours of the facility, WalCoMet has partnered with the Elkhorn Area High School to provide internships for students, offers water testing to support local watershed management groups, and presents at educational events in the community.

In addition, WalCoMet joined the Wisconsin Coronavirus Wastewater Monitoring Network in 2021. This project tests samples of wastewater across the state of Wisconsin to look for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
