Sanitary Sewer Extension

The Walworth County Metropolitan Sewerage District’s (WalCoMet) wastewater collection system and water reclamation facility require significant investment to ensure they can safely, efficiently, and reliably move and reclaim wastewater. These costs are recovered over time from owner communities through connection charges as new properties are served by sanitary sewers.

All projects in the District’s service area that install or modify publicly-owned sanitary sewers must be approved by our Commission and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Applicants should  submit the required materials for sanitary sewer extensions to the District, which will them forward to the WDNR upon Commission approval.

General requirements and applications for a sanitary sewer extension can be found under the Forms and Guidelines section. Additional connection information and definitions can be found in Section 502.1 of the Sewer Use Ordinance No. 82-001.

All application materials must be received a minimum of 14 calendar days in advance of the District Commission meeting. Commission meeting dates can be found here. WalCoMet staff will determine if  materials submitted are complete. Incomplete submittals will cause delays to the approval process.
